Giving back to the community is a fundamental aspect of the SWITCH business model, as it builds trust, encourages higher levels of job satisfaction for existing employees and can create a new network of potential customers or future employees in the surrounding area.
As part of the Canterbury landscape for over 100 years, ParkerSteel's senior management felt a responsibility to do their part to support and preserve important historical additions to the community. The company has taken an active role in sponsoring Canterbury Rugby Club, St. Lawrence Highland Court Cricket Club and Herne Bay Roller Hockey Club, all of which have decades, if not centuries, of history behind them.
For example, the Herne Bay Roller Hockey Club, founded in 1910, is the oldest of its kind in the UK, and receiving sponsorship from ParkerSteel enables them to continue their operations and train the 300 players in their club, some of whom have been selected to play for Englands national team.
The Managing Director of ParkerSteel, Dylan Alexander, is particularly passionate about ensuring the future of local sports teams, commenting 'I am a firm believer in the importance of participating in sports and the lessons in leadership, self-discipline and teamwork that it teaches. I'm delighted to be able to take part in continuing local sports clubs' legacies through our sponsorship as they are an important part of our community's history.'
