What is SWITCH and why should I care?
How did SWITCH come about?
Due to the inescapable realities of social injustice, climate change and declining global health and wellbeing, Dylan Alexander, the Managing Director of ParkerSteel, identified a need to shift the company's focus towards performance with a purpose: building a better future by addressing these global issues within their own operations, workplace and community.
Climate change
Global warming can directly affect businesses through supply chain disruptions, industry-specific challenges and increased insurance costs.
Human rights
Businesses have the power to promote equality, diversity, respect and cultural rights within a community.
Health and Wellbeing
A healthier workplace translates to a healthy community, healthy economy and healthy business.
The concept for SWITCH was developed by ParkerSteel, a leading UK steel stockholder and processor based in the Southeast of England. For over a century, they have committed to providing the complete steel solution, with superior quality products and expert personal service that is unique to each business.
Rather than sign up to a pledge, however, ParkerSteel wanted their results to speak for themselves, and as a result, SWITCH was developed, a holistic approach to creating change throughout every area of a business' operations.
Why is SWITCH important?
The measure of a company's value is about more than just maximising the next quarter's profits; it must also include its worth to society. We cannot build a sustainable future without working together to resolve global challenges such as climate change, human rights, and health and wellbeing. These challenges are bigger than any one company, which is why the SWITCH model aims to introduce easily replicated sustainable initiatives to address global issues.
What can SWITCH do for you?
The SWITCH model has unlimited opportunities for companies in any sector to make practical and sustainable changes to their operations. Working together with like-minded businesses towards mutual goals encourages collaborative success and provides a wider pool of knowledge and ideas to draw from.
